Andreas Boyde

Discography
In his recordings of Brahms’ piano works, Andreas Boyde has singlemindedly pursued his ideal interpretations of the composer’s compositions. Piano News wrote about Vol. 4: “Boyde is on the way to achieving a grandiose recording of Brahms’ complete piano works.” Volume 5 will complete this cycle. Boyde’s playing is characterized by structural clarity and concentration on musical meaning and content: an interpretive stance that permits no deceptive Brahms clichés such as exhilarated orgies of sixths or musical dining pleasure. Boyde plays Brahms’ music in its undisguised form; one hears the sharp intellect that constructed it, and one gets much deeper insights into the essence of the works and the composer than interpretations which are loaded with gimmickry and only focused on the “virtuosic”.
