Bach´n´Blues
Sonatas by Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel
Passacaglia for Solo Violin by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber
Chaconne for Solo Violin by Johann Sebastian Bach
Iskandar Widjaja , violin
Anastassiya Dranchuk, piano
In the booklet that accompanies this CD, Iskandar
Widjaja, born in 1986 in Berlin, describes the recording
with these words:
„These two worlds, „Bach“ and „Blues“ are extremes
meant to reflect my musical schizophrenia. Music full
of childlike imagination and religious intensity. Or
childlike intensity and religious imagination?“
Iskandar Widjaja has already performed as a soloist
and chamber musician in Germany, Austria, Italy,
Belgium, Spain and the USA in such concert halls as
the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin,
the Karajan Konzertsaal of the UdK Berlin, the Opera
di Brescia, the Gedung Kesenian Jakarta and the Tel
Aviv Opera. He regularly appears as a soloist and concertmaster
with the Berlin Chamber Soloists.
Work with Dora Schwarzberg, Christian Tetzlaff,
Shlomo Mintz and Ida Haendel has given the young
artist further impulses. He was celebrated like a pop
star in Indonesia; he has already received lucrative advertising
contracts there as a result of his unbelievable
popularity. The artist plays a Franciscus Geissenhof
violin from 1793.
