As early as 25 years ago, René Clemencic had released a
recording of his interpretation of the Codex Buranus,
which was a pioneering act back then. Yet even
today, as this composition by Orff has been recorded
hundreds of times, there are hardly any versions of
the original songs available. Hence, René Clemencic
and his ensemble decided to present a new recording
on the occasion of the anniversary, including many
new insights and the experience from many years of Carmina concert performances. A sound comparison
may prove how much recordings have evolved in the
meantime as well, particularly since the new recording
is available on SACD in surround sound modus
plus traditional stereo sound. An exciting and diversified
tour of the extensive Codex Buranus collection
that was found at the Benediktbeuern Monastery
and nowadays belongs to the sacred treasures of the
Bavarian State Library.
