After two albums that were enthusiastically received by reviewers,
this is the third production of Lieder recorded by Konrad Jarnot and Helmut Deutsch for OehmsClassics. Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder in the version for piano by Max Wolff and Ernst Roth are heard here for baritone for the first time. Another novelty in the cycle op. 10 is also waiting for the listener: Strauss originally planned the song Wer hat’s gethan to be the sixth of the songs, but later withdrew it. Konrad Jarnot has reintroduced into the cycle for this CD. With the exception of the recording by Edita Gruberova, this is the only recording of the complete works, op. 10.
