      Friends of the Lute

Works for Lute, Mandolin, Recorder and Harpsichord by Silvius Leopold Weiss (1687–1750), Ernst Gottlieb Baron

(1696–1760) und Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) Axel Wolf, lute · Dorothee Oberlinger, recorder
Anna Torge, mandolin · Christoph Anselm Noll, harpsichord

Since it has become known that Bach’s Trio BWV 1025 is the expanded adaptation of a Suite by the Dresden lutenist Sylvius Leopold Weiss, there have been various attempts to explain the history of the origin of this work.

For his „attempt“, Axel Wolf has invited an illustrious ensemble, even though he unquestionably takes on the leading part on this recording.
