      Robert Dean Smith is Tristan in this year’s new production at Bayreuth, directed by Christoph Marthaler – the same Robert Dean Smith who was celebrated by Bayreuth audiences during last seasons as Walter von Stolzing, Lohengrin and Siegmund. The premiere of this new production is also his Tristan debut on the “Grüner Hügel”. A portrait of Tristan with the work’s most famous pieces is simultaneously being released by OehmsClassics (OC 527). Linda Watson is the Isolde at Robert Dean Smith’s side in this recording. The American singer will also appear in Bayreuth this year – as Ortrud in Lohengrin.
